Glennelle's Slow Cooker Bolognese Pasta Sauce 

This is a meat and tomato sauce, not a marinara sauce.  Pronounced bo-lo-nyay-zay.

Ingredients

1 lb. lean ground beef

1/2 lb good italian sausage (casings removed)

1 onion chopped

1 clove garlic crushed

1 small carrot grated

2 stalks of celery chopped

1 small green or red bell pepper seeded and chopped

1 28 oz can of diced peeled tomatoes

2 cans of tomato paste

1 tsp real honest to goodness sugar

1 tbs chopped fresh oregano

1 tbs chopped fresh basil

1 tsp salt

1/4 tsp pepper

1/2 cup dry red wine

 

Preparation:

Turn on slow cooker to HIGH.

Add ground beef and sausage.

Cook and stir until meat is broken up into small pieces.

Turn pot to LOW.

Add remaining ingredients.

Cover and cook on LOW 6 hours.

Makes about 8 cups. D -licious
